Vera Farmiga and Mia Wasikowska are set to join “A View From the Bridge” for Protagonist says Variety
Based on Arthur Miller’s play of the same name, the 1950s Brooklyn-set story follows Eddie Carbone (Anthony La Paglia), a Brooklyn longshoreman obsessed with his 17-year-old niece Catherine (Wasikowska).
When Catherine falls in love with a newly arrived immigrant, Eddie’s jealousy erupts in a rage that consumes him, his family, and his world.
LaPaglia won a Tony Award for playing Eddie in the 1998 Broadway production. In the film Farmiga would play his wife Beatrice. Sam Neill and Sebastian Stan also star.
Robert Connolly (“Balibo,” “The Bank”) directs from a script by Andrew Bovell (“Edge of Darkness”). LaPaglia, Marion Pilowsky and Natalie Stevenson will produce.
Shooting kicks off in June in Melbourne and New York.
