FX is looking at developing the Coen Brothers’ Oscar-winning 1996 dark comedy classic “Fargo” into a television series reports Variety.
Talks between the network and MGM are in early stages with no certainty of a deal being made. There’s also no talent attached to star in or produce the show.
Still, MGM is very keen on making new films out of their extensive back catalogue of properties, and have had recent success with MTV’s re-imagining of Michael J. Fox 1985 comedy “Teen Wolf”.
The original film starred Frances McDormand as a pregnant police chief tasked with solving murders spurred by an inept car salesman (William H. Macy).
