Still not a lot is known about the upcoming “The Fantastic Four” reboot beyond the people involved and that it will be a more character driven piece.
Today, a source for Schmoes Know has reportedly claimed to have uncovered a few bits of information. First off, as expected, Kate Mara’s Sue Storm character will be the adopted sister of Michael B. Jordan’s Johnny Storm – something that seemed likely after the hiring of Reg E. Cathey as Dr. Franklin Storm.
The site claims the film is going to be VERY character-driven with the setting up the characters and their relationships with each other and nemesis Victor von Doom (Toby Kebbell) taking precedence over the action. The biggest reveal of the story though is the change to the origin of the quartet’s superpowers:
“In the film, the team will gain their powers through a lab experiment gone wrong in a way, where they create a portal to another world or dimension (it’s not clear) and they get their powers after the exposure to this other dimension/planet. Much like how the group gets their powers in the Ultimate Fantastic Four comics, after they are engulfed in a failed teleporter experiment.”
Producer Simon Kinberg previously indicated the film will have a much more scientific feel than than the previous ones, and this sound like it will follow the Ultimate run of the comic much closer.
