Warner Bros. Pictures is dipping into the “Harry Potter” well again this Thanksgiving with the release of the spin-off feature “Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them,” the first in a proposed trilogy of films set decades before and an ocean away from the goings on at Hogwarts.
The film’s director, David Yates, is a busy man with two films out this year – ‘Beasts’ and this week’s “The Legend of Tarzan”. Out doing promotional rounds for ‘Tarzan,’ Yates revealed to GS News that the script for the second film of the “Fantastic Beasts” trilogy has already been written by author J.K. Rowling and it sounds like she’s doing all three:
“We’ve done the first one, she’s written the second one, she’s got ideas for the third one. No one quite has ownership of them quite yet, in terms of having a relationship with the material, other than the relationship they’ll have with the movie when it comes out.”
Filming on the “Fantastic Beasts” sequel is expected to kick off around this time next year ahead of a November 2018 release which has already been locked in. Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, Colin Farrell, Samantha Morton, Ezra Miller and more star in the first film with at least several of them expected back for the second.
