Two genre shows are trying to score fan-back revivals.
“Mystery Science Theater 3000” creator Joel Hodgson has launched a Kickstarter campaign to resurrect the brand. Hodgson is seeking $2 million to pay for three new MST3K episodes, and the more money that goes in the more episodes can be made.
Originally premiering as a public access show in 1988, the series moved to several networks and ultimately produced 197 episodes. The new episodes will reportedly blend the original creative team with a batch of new, fresh faces and names.
Speaking of fan sourcing of axed properties, a Change.org petition has begun to try and resurrect NBC’s cancelled “Constantine” series on another network. Matt Ryan starred as the titular part-time occult detective in the show which was cancelled earlier this year.
The actor reprised his role in an episode of The CW’s “Arrow” last week which saw that show nab an 11% ratings increase in the key demo – and that’s despite an online leak of the episode several days early.
