Fan Pitch For An Ambitious “Terminator” Sequel

After three decades of existence, the future of the “Terminator” franchise is uncertain right now following the disappointment of “Terminator Genisys” and the rights issues surrounding the property.

Though rumors continue that Paramount may make another, the series rights return to James Cameron in 2019 and so any film to be done would have to be done before that happens. Now, a fan-made film pitch done as an animated trailer suggests one idea for the franchise it hasn’t tackled before.

German animator Bruce Stirling John Knox has crafted the pitch titled “Extermination” which changes the setting to a time not yet seen in the “Terminator” franchise – the post-apocalyptic future after Skynet has been defeated (and seemingly post-‘Salvation’ thus ignoring ‘Genisys’).

In this take, the remaining robots are still active and becoming increasingly dangerous – Skynet’s final orders for them to only shut down once all human life has been extinguished. The Resistance has to come up with a solution – exterminate the human race so only a few will survive.

It’s an interesting idea, will anything come of it? We’ll have to wait and see.
