“Family Ties” Sitcom To Become A Stage Play

Classic 1980s NBC sitcom “Family Ties” is set to be adapted into a stage play under the tutelage of “Wicked” musical producers the Araca Group.

Playwright Daniel Goldstein (2011’s “Godspell”) will adapt the property, with the play set to debut in Ohio in June next year. The production will bow at the Human Race Theater after which the script will be published and made available for licensing by producing organizations around the world.

The play is not a musical and will draw on elements from the entire seven-season run of the series which centered on the Keaton family and often involved the political disagreements between two ex-hippie parents and their conservative son.
