After years of complicated negotiations, “Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane is set to reboot classic cartoon “The Flintstones” reports Deadline.
No broadcast date is set yet, but the reboot will air on Fox. The announcement comes after long and complicated negotiations between Fox TV, where McFarlane is based, and Warner Bros. who now owns the rights to the series once it absorbed Hanna-Barbera.
There was apparently concern over how the classic series would be interpreted given MacFarlane’s brand of raunchy comedies, but we won’t know the exact tone or the new look for a while yet. Guess they’re worried about something akin to the brilliant take by Adult Swim’s “Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law” a few years back which painted Fred as a Tony Soprano style figure, complete with an opening credits spoof.
