Fame Is Returning To Television

“American Idol” and “So You Think You Can Dance” executive producer Nigel Lythgoe is hopping onboard MGM’s planned new TV incarnation of its “Fame” franchise says Deadline.

Alan Parker’s 1980 movie, not to mention the subsequent 1982 TV series and 2009’s feature remake, chronicled the lives of talented students paying their dues on the road to success.

The new series is being called a re-imagining that will “strive to embody the spirit” of the originals but update it for a contemporary setting. Kary McHoul, Charles Segars and Chad Gutstein will produce.
