Fall of the Titans? “Clash 3” On Hold

The remake of “Clash of the Titans” opened to scathing reviews and modest domestic box-office, but the global audience turned it into a hit with a $493 million global gross on a $125 million budget.

It was enough to green light 2012’s sequel “Wrath of the Titans,” a film that cost a bit more ($150 million) and made considerably less – $305 million. Talk of a potential third film in the series though seemed to die there.

Cut to this week and producer Basil Iwanyk tells IGN that while a third installment is possible, there aren’t any plans for it at the moment:

“In terms of ‘Clash of the Titans 3,’ it’s one of those situations where a movie will float away and then come back when it’s supposed to come back. I think it is, ‘Okay, what’s the new idea? How do you make it fresh?’ A lot of movies have come out in that world, including ‘Immortals’ and ‘300.’ So there will be a time and place where someone will come up with a great idea for it and how to make it feel different and fresh from the previous ones. Then we’ll hopefully move forward on that.”
