F. Gary Gray (“The Fate of the Furious,” “Straight Outta Compton”) is reportedly in negotiations to direct the “Men In Black” franchise relaunch at Sony Pictures and Amblin Entertainment.
Neither original star Tommy Lee Jones or Will Smith are expected to be back, but the series will be set within the same continuity as opposed to a straight reboot. In effect it’s a ‘restart’ in the same way “Jurassic World” was – same world, similar premise but all new characters.
“Iron Man” scribes Matt Holloway & Art Marcum are penning the script with their draft leading to the project getting the green light.
Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald are back as producers and Steven Spielberg is executive producing the film which has set a June 14th 2019 release.
