Studio films with foreign helmers being partly reshot by other directors is hardly a new thing, but the results are rarely good – look at this year’s “The Messengers” and “The Invasion” for example.
Now, another remake is getting the same treatment – the American version of the Pang brothers-directed Asian horror hit “The Eye”.
The upcoming Jessica Alba-led remake for Lionsgate was originally helmed by French filmmaking duo David Moreau and Xavier Palud (“Ils/Them”).
Now, Fangoria reports that Lionsgate recently ordered two weeks of reshoots without them, replacing them with helmer Patrick Lussier (“Dracula 2000,” “White Noise: The Light”).
A February 1st 2008 release is planned.
