The Expendables 3 & The Mechanic 2
Nu Media/Millennium Films posted a flyer at the current American Film Market with announcements and details of their projects. Two such projects on that slate though are high profile sequels.
The first is “The Expendables 3”, not a surprise considering the success of the first two films. The more unexpected one is a follow-up to the Jason Statham-led 2011 remake of “The Mechanic”. That film was both panned by critics and fared poorly at the box-office. [Source: Collider]
Even though the first film is still in post-production, plans are already underway on a sequel to the steam punk teen adventure “Mariah Mundi And The Midas Box”. Key cast including Aneurin Barnard and Michael Sheen will return, but director Jonathan Newman will be replaced.
The story follows a teen boy whose world is torn apart by the disappearance of his parents and the kidnapping of his younger brother. He teams up with Sheen’s Will Charity and journeys to a majestic hotel teetering on the edge of a cliff where he finds an extraordinary box that turns everyday objects into gold. [Source: Deadline]
Jason Eisener (“Hobo with a Shotgun”), Gareth Evans (“The Raid”), Eduardo Sanchez (“The Blair Witch Project”), Timo Tjahjanto (“Macabre”), Adam Wingard (“You’re Next”), ” Blair Witch” producer Gregg Hale and “V/H/S” screenwriter Simon Barrett have all come onboard to direct segments for the upcoming “V/H/S” sequel.
The first film followed petty crooks hired to retrieve a rare piece of found footage from a rundown house in the middle of nowhere. They soon realize that the job isn’t going to be as easy as they thought. The sequel deals with investigators discovering a tape while looking for a student. [Source: Movies.ie]
