Exotic Marigold Sequel In Development

With so much of Hollywood focused on making expensive tentpoles for comic book geeks and action fans, it’s not a huge shock that one of the most profitable films of the period was the very definition of counter programming.

Made for less than $10 million, John Madden’s older-skewing “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” was a hit with over $130 million at the global box-office and quite good reviews.

Now, screenwriter Ol Parker is set to deliver a treatment to Fox Searchlight for a sequel, with sources for Vulture claiming that the principal cast “all wants to come back” including Judi Dench, Bill Nighy, Maggie Smith and Dev Patel.

Numerous films are in the works targeting audiences aged over 50 and 60, a part of the population that the studios aren’t really catering for.
