Exorcist Remake Is Definitely Not Happening

Last week came word that Morgan Creek Productions had hired an investment banking group to sell off domestic rights to its library of seventy-eight films.

The key element was that they would retain the remake rights for five of its films, one of which was William Friedkin’s horror classic “The Exorcist”. At the time it was also suggested ideas for a remake of the film were being thrown about.

This understandably upset Friedkin who sent out a series of tweets in the wake of the news:

Now, Morgan Creek’s official Twitter account has posted a response to Friedkin and it’s good news:

That doesn’t necessarily rule out the company producing another sequel, prequel or spin-off – but that does indicate a remake/reboot is definitely not in the cards.
