Appearing at Starz’s recent TCA Winter Tour for the premium cable network, CEO Chris Albrecht talked briefly with IGN about one of the more anticipated shows they have in development – the “Evil Dead” series that reunites director Sam Raimi, actor Bruce Campbell and producer Robert Tapert.
Albrecht confirms that the choice of doing half-hour rather than hour-long episodes was the idea of the aforementioned trio, not the network. He adds: “I can tell you, it’s a chock full half hour.” The show is expected to film in New Zealand, much like Raimi and Tapert did with “Spartacus” for Starz over several years.
As for an airdate? “I think most likely it will be fourth quarter [of 2015]. End of third quarter, fourth quarter, something like that. We’ve got a lot of shows this year. We’re very, very excited.”
Campbell previously said in interviews that the show is “as big of a counterpart to Walking Dead as you could programme because Walking Dead is unrelentingly grim and hugely popular. We’re going to give people a little of the old fashioned slapstick: horror and comedy.”
