Luke Evans, Mia Kirshner, Michael Aronov and Martin Donovan are the latest to join filmmaker Nicholas Jarecki’s new opioid crisis thriller “Dreamland”. Filming is underway in Montreal.
The story follows three separate but colliding stories. One involved a drug trafficker (Armie Hammer) who arranges a multi-cartel Fentanyl smuggling operation between Canada and the United States. Aronov will portray a narcotics distributor in a contentious partnership with the trafficker.
Another has an architect (Evangeline Lilly), recovering from an OxyContin addiction, tracking down the truth behind her son’s involvement with narcotics. Kirshner plays the architect’s sister.
The third involves a university professor (Gary Oldman) who battles unexpected revelations about his employer, a drug company with deep government influence bringing a new ‘non-addictive’ painkiller to market.
Evans will play a pharmaceutical executive on the verge of a major breakthrough, while Donovan will play is an industrial tycoon. Greg Kinnear, Michelle Rodriguez, and Lily-Rose Depp co-star while Jarecki and Cassian Elwes are producing.
