“Eternal Sunshine” To Become A TV Series

Producer Steve Golin and Anonymous Content (“True Detective,” “Mr. Robot”) are set to reboot Michel Gondry’s acclaimed 2004 romance drama “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” into a TV series which Universal Cable Productions is attached to produce.

The original film follows an estranged couple (Jim Carrey, Kate Winslet) who decide to erase each other from their memories. Charlie Kaufman, Michel Gondry and Pierre Bismuth co-wrote the film which went on to win the Oscar for best screenplay.

Still in its early stages and not yet out to networks, Zev Borow (“Forever,” “Chuck”) is nearing a deal to pen the script for the reboot which neither Golin or Kaufman are involved in. Richard Brown (“True Detective”) is onboard to produce.

Reboots remain in high demand as outlets look for proven IP to cut through a cluttered scripted series landscape that is approaching the 500 original series mark.
