Eszterhas Pens Guadalupe Virgin Project

Infamous scribe Joe Eszterhas is set to write a project about the Virgin of Guadalupe for Mpower Pictures says Variety.

The 16th century Mexican icon, a depiction of the Virgin Mary, was said to have appeared miraculously on the front of a simple peasant’s cloak and in the ensuing near five centuries has become arguably Mexico’s most popular religious and cultural image.

Eszterhas, who describes the screenplay as “a labor of love”, scored both criticism and big paychecks for his work throughout the 90’s which mostly consisted of erotic thrillers like “Showgirls,” “Jade,” “Sliver” and “Basic Instinct”.

Due to health complications, his only film project this decade has been the 2006 Hungarian film “Children of Glory”.
