Genevieve O’Reilly (“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”), Keir O’Donnell (“Fargo”), and John Polson (“The Sum of Us”) are set to co-star with Eric Bana in the Australian crime thriller “The Dry” which is currently filming.
Based on the Jane Harper bestselling novel of the same name, Bana plays a man who returns to his hometown two decades after he left, and after more than a decade of drought plaguing it, to attend the funeral of his childhood friend who allegedly killed his wife and child before committing suicide.
Bana’s character reluctantly agrees to investigate the crime to see whether it was more than just a murder-suicide, but the investigation brings up the death of a childhood friend (O’Reilly) of both men and he begins to suspect these two long-separated crimes are connected. He also finds himself pitted against the prejudice and pent up rage of a terrified community.
Robert Connolly helms from a script he co-wrote with Harry Cripps. Bruna Papandrea, Jodi Matterson, and Steve Hutensky are producing.
