Eric Bana has joined the cast of the true story adaptation “The Finest Hours” for Disney Pictures. Shooting is already under way.
The story is based on Casey Sherman and Michael J. Tougias non-fiction book about a daring rescue of the New England coast in 1952.
Caught in a Noreaster, two oil tankers were split in two and their crews tossed into the ferocious seas. It was up to the valiant effort of the coast guard to attempt a rescue.
Bana will play Daniel Cluff, a Coast Guard warrant officer who orders the lead character of Bernie (Chris Pine) to embark on this deadly mission, despite the objections of his wife.
Casey Affleck, Graham McTavish, Josh Stewart, Ben Foster and Holliday Grainger are also confirmed to star.
Paul Tamasy and Eric Johnson (“The Fighter”) adapted from the book of the same name by Casey Sherman and Michael J. Tougias.
