Epic IMAX Trailer: James Gray’s “Ad Astra”

Epic Imax Trailer James Grays Ad Astra

There’s been two pretty solid if contemplative trailers so far, but now 20th Century Fox has premiered a new and more action-focused (and a bit more spoilery) IMAX trailer for “The Lost City of Z” director James Gray’s long-awaited new sci-fi epic “Ad Astra” which opens September 20th. In addition, there’s a new featurette.

Gray and Ethan Gross (“Fringe”) penned the script in which astronaut Roy McBride (Brad Pitt) travels to the outer edges of the solar system to find his missing father (Tommy Lee Jones) and unravel a mystery that threatens the survival of humans on Earth.

His journey will uncover secrets that challenge the nature of human existence and our place in the cosmos. The story is said to be partly inspired by Joseph Conrad’s “Heart of Darkness” and aims to include some of the most realistic depictions of space travel put in a movie.

Ruth Negga, Liv Tyler, Donald Sutherland, Jamie Kennedy, Kimberly Elise, John Ortiz and John Finn co-star in the film which Pitt, Gray, Marc Butan, Anthony Katagas, and Rodrigo Teixeira produce.
