“Emoji Movie,” “The Star” Score More Cast

As part of a presentation of their upcoming film slate, Sony Pictures Animation made some casting announcements for two of their upcoming projects.

First up, the already announced “The Emoji Movie” is expanding its cast to include Jennifer Coolidge as Gene’s mother Mary Meh, Maya Rudolph as Smiler, Jake T. Austin as Alex, and Sir Patrick Stewart as the voice of Poop.

They join the previously announced voice cast of T.J. Miller (Gene), James Corden (Hi-5), Ilana Glazer (Jailbreak), and Steven Wright (Gene’s father Mel Meh).

Meanwhile the massive official voice cast has been announced for “The Star,” SPA’s animal take on the Nativity and the animal heroes who helped it take place.

The cast includes Steven Yeun, Kelly Clarkson, Oprah Winfrey, Keegan-Michael Key, Kristin Chenoweth, Anthony Anderson, Gabriel Iglesias, Ving Rhames, Delilah Rene, Kris Kristoferson, Gina Rodriguez, Zachary Levi, Tyler Perry, Tracy Morgan and Christopher Plummer.

Timothy Reckart is directing from a screenplay by Kotkin with a November 10th 2017 release date announced.
