Sunday night’s host-free Emmys was a bomb ratings-wise – the TV awards ceremony falling to its lowest viewership numbers to date.
The FOX broadcast scored a 5.7 rating and a 10 share in overnight metered market ratings – down 23% on last year’s ceremony and 30% from 2017’s. An anticipated match between the Los Angeles Rams and the Cleveland Browns likely contributed to the soft numbers though.
The show was also a disappointment for the main four broadcast networks who took home a combined total of 16 Emmy wins from all three ceremonies – also a new low (previous low was 19 in 2016) and down from 22 combined wins last year.
“Saturday Night Live” was the only broadcast show to win during the main awards on Sunday with HBO, Netflix and Amazon dominating the line-up.
