Emma Watson is attached to star in the period drama “Napoleon and Betsy” says The Hollywood Reporter.
Written and directed by Benjamin Ross, Watson will play Betsy Balcombe, a young, impetuous noblewoman trapped on the isolated British Isle of St. Helena.
There she falls in love with Napoleon, who is in exile on the island. Watson replaces Scarlett Johansson who left when the role was written with a younger actress in mind.
Johansson will still serve as producer. Watson hopes to shoot “Napoleon and Betsy” in the Fall before getting to work on “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” in early 2009.
