Emma Thompson In Talks For “Cruella”

Emma Thompson Publishes Luck Exit Letter

Emma Thompson is in early talks to star opposite Emma Stone in “Cruella,” Disney’s live-action take on “101 Dalmatians” which serves as an origin story for its villainess Cruella de Vil (like “Maleficent” did for “Sleeping Beauty”).

Craig Gillespie (“I, Tonya”) directs the film in which Stone plays a younger version of the character who becomes obsessed with capturing a massive litter of dalmatian puppies in an effort to create the ultimate fur coat. Glenn Close played the full version of the character in two 1990s animated films.

Thompson’s role is under wraps, but the actress has worked for Disney several times before including the live-action “Beauty and the Beast” as Mrs. Potts. Tony McNamara penned the most recent version of the script with Dana Fox writing a previous draft. Marc Platt, Kristin Burr and Andrew Gunn are producing.
