Emily Mortimer has signed on to join Emily Blunt and Lin-Manuel Miranda in “Mary Poppins Returns” for Disney Pictures.
Set 25 years after the original, Mortimer will play the adult version of Jane Banks from the original. She now helps her brother Michael (Ben Whishaw) raise his kids.
Blunt takes on the role of Poppins alongside Miranda as a street lamplighter named Jack. Meryl Streep also appears as a cousin of Poppins.
Rob Marshall helms the film from a script by David Magee. Marshall, John DeLuca, and Marc Platt will produce and the film opens Christmas 2018.
