Elizabeth Debicki (“The Great Gatsby,” “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2”) is in talks to co-star in “Shame” and “12 Years a Slave” director Steve McQueen’s heist thriller “Widows” at New Regency, Film4 and See-Saw Films.
“Gone Girl” screenwriter and novelist Gillian Flynn will co-write the script adaptation with McQueen based on Lynda LaPlante’s iconic 1983 British miniseries.
The original followed four armed robbers who are killed in a failed heist attempt, leaving their tough as nails widows to finish the job.
Debicki would play one of the widows in the new take. The film also stars Viola Davis, “Moonlight” scene stealer Andre Holland, and Tony award winner Cynthia Erivo.
McQueen, Iain Canning and Emile Sherman will produce.
