While it still hasn’t been confirmed if Daniel Craig is either out or in again as James Bond for the next entry in the series, most indications are he’s done which is why the rumors and speculation about casting has reached fever pitch in recent months.
Things have calmed down a bit in the past month or two though, before that point a half-dozen or so names were suggested as potential candidates – most notably Tom Hiddleston and Idris Elba. Hiddleston has already comment on the possibility, now Elba has finally had a say and claims that despite all the reports there’s nothing to them. Speaking on Good Morning America, the 43-year-old Elba told host Michael Strahan that he thinks he’s too old for the part:
“It is the wildest rumor in the world. I keep saying if it were to happen it would be the will of a nation because there hasn’t been any talks between me and the studio about any of that. But everywhere I go, people have been wanting that to happen. But if I’m really honest man, I think I’m too old for that. Running around in cars and ladies and martinis, who wants to do that? Sounds terrible.”
The full interview with Elba can be found here. Production on the next entry in the series isn’t expected to get underway until late next year so there’s still plenty of time to lock in an actor for the film.
