Lionsgate has announced that the upcoming eighth film in the “Saw” horror franchise has been retitled.
Originally dubbed “Saw: Legacy,” the new film will now be called “Jigsaw” and has locked an October 27th release date. A teaser trailer is expected very soon.
Laura Vandervoort and Hannah Anderson are set to star in the film which was mostly shot in secret last Fall and marks the first entry in the series in seven years.
Acclaimed Aussie genre directors Michael and Peter Spierig (“Predestination,” “Daybreakers”) helm the film from a script by Piranha 3D” scribes Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg along with original creators James Wan and Leigh Whannell.
Mark Burg, Gregg Hoffman, and Oren Koules are producing. All seven previous films have a combined worldwide box office gross of $870 million.
