Edwards Shoots Down “Rogue One” Theory

Following confirmation that “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” cast member Forest Whitaker is playing Saw Gerrera, a character first introduced in the animated series “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” fans began to speculate about other characters from the non-film canon that might appear in the new film.

One such theory was that Alistair Petrie, who was featured in the first Rogue One teaser as a stern Rebel leader, was potentially playing Agent Kallus from Disney XD’s “Star Wars Rebels” series.

Director Gareth Edwards has shot this fan theory down, saying he’s not Kallus and is just simply a member of the Rebel Alliance named General Draven. Edwards tells EW: “It’s no official secret. Sometimes I read stuff online like it’s this big thing that’s been leaked, and I thought, ‘Oh, I thought people knew that.'”

In related news, a fan has assembled a four-minute chronological supercut of the three ‘Rogue One’ trailers released so far. It’s a little rough but gives a basic idea of the story.
