Edgerton Joins Chalamet In Michod’s “King”

Joel Edgerton is set to join Oscar nominee Timothee Chalamet in Netflix’s new royal drama feature “The King” from “Animal Kingdom” and “The Rover” director David Michod. Michod and Edgerton co-wrote the script.

The project is described as a modern-day adaptation of elements of Shakespeare’s two-part “Henry IV” plays along with “Henry V”. Chalamet plays the young prince who becomes King Henry V of England, and Edgerton as his close friend Falstaff – considered one of the Bard’s greatest character creations.

As the film is reportedly a modern-day adaptation, it’s not clear how it will adapt elements of Henry V’s reign such as the famed victory at the Battle of Agincourt. Production is expected to begin in June.
