Scribe Jez Butterworth has been hired to pen a new draft of the Emma Stone-led “Cruella” for Disney Pictures reports The Tracking Board
The new film is based on Cruella De Vil, the infamous villainous from “101 Dalmatians” with the likely focus being on an earlier time in her life before her pre-canine fur obsessions drove her to madness. Glenn Close played Cruella De Vil in a pair of live action movies and serves as executive producer here.
Butterworth has become a scribe in demand in recent years, his work has included the likes of the acclaimed Tom Cruise sci-fi action thriller “Edge of Tomorrow,” the Johnny Depp-led Boston gangland drama “Black Mass,” and the most recent James Bond feature “Spectre”.
Kelly Marcel and Aline Brosh McKenna penned previous drafts of the script. Filming is currently slated to begin in October.
