Edgar Wright To Direct “Sparks” Documentary

Beloved British filmmaker Edgar Wright (“Baby Driver,” “Hot Fuzz”) is switching tracks to the documentary genre with his next film which will look at the story of the cult pop-rock band Sparks.

Wright, who filmed one of their concerts in London in May, confirmed that he was gathering archival footage of the band for the project.

Formed in 1972 by Ron and Russell Mael, Sparks have had sleeper hit songs like “This Town Ain’t Big Enough for Both of Us” and “The Number One Song in Heaven”. Wright has previously said he’s been a fan of the band since he saw them on Top Of The Pops in 1979.
