Eddie Murphy has joined the cast of the thievery comedy “Tower Heist” at Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment says The Hollywood Reporter.
Ben Stiller stars as an overworked residence manager of a luxury apartment high-rise who sets up a team of the building’s operations and maintenance workers to plan out an intricate heist of the penthouse tenant – a Wall Street capitalist (Alan Alda) who defrauded them of their pensions.
Murphy would play a safe-cracker who may betray Stiller and his gang. Murphy was previously attached to one of the previous incarnations of the project which at the time was also to star Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle and Chris Tucker. He’s now back on board and will also executive produce.
Jeff Nathanson has penned the current draft of the screenplay. Brett Ratner directs while Brian Grazer will produce.
