Ed Zwick Is An “American Assassin”

“Blood Diamond” and “Defiance” director Ed Zwick is set to direct an adaptation of Vince Flynn’s eleventh Mitch Rapp novel “American Assassin” for CBS Films says Deadline.

CBS scored the rights to the Rapp novels back in 2008 and originally planned to begin the series with an adaptation of “Consent to Kill” that Antoine Fuqua was to direct while Gerard Butler, Colin Farrell and Matthew Fox were under consideration to play CIA agent Rapp.

Now though they’ve opted for ‘Assassin’ which is a prequel telling the story of how a tragedy changed Rapp’s path from athlete to ruthless CIA terrorist hunter.

Zwick is writing the script with Marshall Herskovitz. Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Nick Wechsler will produce.
