Clint Eastwood is said to be circling FOX’s currently untitled Billy Ray-scripted Richard Jewell biopic.
Jewell was a security guard who discovered a suspicious backpack in the Olympics compound during the 1996 games in Atlanta. He was vilified as a possible terrorist, and his good work in helping clear bystanders from the area before the bomb exploded turned into a trip to the Twilight Zone.
Jonah Hill is slated to star as Jewell while Leonardo DiCaprio is said to be up for the role of the Southern real estate lawyer who helped Jewell out of his hellish situation. The film will be based on Marie Brenner’s 1997 Vanity Fair article about the incident.
Fox and Warner Bros. Pictures are reportedly considering making the project a co-production which Hill, DiCaprio, Kevin Misher and Jennifer Davisson Killoran will produce.
