E3 2014: Electronic Arts’ Presentation

Following Microsoft, Electronic Arts gave its E3 presentation which covered around a dozen cross-platform titles – many of which are still in very early stages – that various studios under its control are working on.

The biggest news was that the next game in the popular “Battlefield” series, “Battlefield Hardline,” has launched a closed beta today for PS4 and PC.

A six-minute gameplay reel from the cops vs criminals title, made with the Frostbite 3 graphics engine, makes this seem more like a gritty action-oriented “Heat”-style crime drama than the usual military FPS style of this franchise.

Clips for both “Star Wars Battlefront 3” and “Mass Effect 4” emphasised the history of the franchises and the love for them by the developers, rather than showcasing any actual footage from the game. They were still inspiring, as was word that BioWare Edmonton are working on a new IP.

Promising footage was screened from both “Dragon Age Inquisition” and “Mirror’s Edge 2”, “The Sims 4” had a brief and very strange demo, and several sports game got trailers including FIFA 15, Madden 15, UFC and NHL 15.

All of these games are expected to be available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
