After a launch a few weeks ago that focused far too much on the new Xbox One console’s Smart TV features, Microsoft’s E3 presentation was all about the games.
The two most important things about the console were revealed at the end – the release date is in November this year, and the launch price will be $499 in the United States, €499 in Europe, and £429 in the UK.
Aside from a new look version of the Xbox 360 which reportedly hits stores today, nothing else about the presentation focused on hardware.
In regards to software, the company is taking a few pages out of Sony’s Playstation Plus book – Live Gold subscribers will be entitled to two free game downloads every single month.
Microsoft used the event to deliver first look trailers for several of their new and/or exclusive franchises, along with first looks at some much anticipated sequels.
“Dead Rising 3” scored a very impressive trailer, as did the ancient Roman epic “Ryse: Son of Rome” which hits next March.
Other Xbox exclusive titles that got promos were “Quantum Break,” “Killer Instinct,” “Forza Motorsport 5,” “D4,” “Below,” “Crimson Dragon,” “Sunset Overdrive,” “Titanfall,” and the next chapter in the Xbox-exclusive “Halo” franchise.
There were also some great trailers for cross platform games like “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain,” “Dark Souls II,” “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” and “Battlefield 4”.
