Dwayne Johnson will re-team with his “San Andreas” and “Hercules” producer Beau Flynn for New Line’s live-action feature film adaptation of the classic 1986 arcade game “Rampage”.
In the game you play one of three giant monsters – a gorilla, a lizard and a wolf – who smash buildings and wreak havoc on major cities, destroying helicopters, tanks, taxis, police cars, boats, and trolleys along the way.
The project has been in the works since at least 2011 but has picked up steam recently. Johnson’s involvement has now made it a priority. Ryan Engle (“Non-Stop”) has penned the script while a director is now being sought.
Filming is slated to begin next Summer for a 2017 release. Johnson would shoot the film after he reprises his role of Hobbs in “Fast and Furious 8”.
