Dwayne Johnson Takes A “Jungle Cruise”

Dwayne Johnson is attached to star in the proposed film adaptation of the Disneyland ride “Jungle Cruise” for Disney Pictures.

Following the success of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” films, studio has been trying to adapt the ride onto film for over a decade now with the last version slated to star “Toy Story” duo Tom Hanks and Tim Allen from a script by Roger S.H. Schulman.

One of the original park’s rides, the retro adventure takes people down various famous rivers like the Amazon Nile and Congo rivers where they encounter rhinos, hippos, headhunters and piranhas.

John Requa and Glenn Ficarra (“Focus”) are penning the new take’s script which is said to go back to “The African Queen”-style period setting. The pair aren’t attached to direct at this point. John Davis and John Fox are producing.
