Award-winning “Moon” and “Source Code” director Duncan Jones is set to make a biopic of Ian Fleming at K5 Film and PalmStar Media Capital as his third feature says Empire Online.
The story specifically focuses on Fleming’s younger years as an aimless playboy growing up under the shadow of a famous family, and his experiences in WWII as an intelligence officer in the British Navy that changed his life.
It also gave him inspiration for the character of James Bond based on his own exploits, penning twelve 007 novels and two collections of short stories from “Casino Royale” in 1953 up to his death in 1964.
Jones’s screenplay is based on Andrew Lycett’s biography and is the first feature to have the cooperation of the Ian Fleming Estate. Shooting aims to begin later this year.
James McAvoy was previously linked to the project back in 2009.
