Tracking figures are in for two high profile titles. First up, Disney’s “Dumbo” is set to take off this weekend with a domestic opening in the $50-60 million range and a further $80-90 million overseas indicates Variety. The movie pulled in $2.6 million in Thursday night previews.
The Tim Burton-directed film is being sold as an old-fashioned family movie, but reviews for the title have been lackluster with the new take sitting at just 53% (Average Rating: 5.65/10) on Rotten Tomatoes.
Early projections are also in for “John Wick 3: Parabellum” which doesn’t open until May. The earliest tracking figures for that, via Box-Office Pro, indicate the action sequel is headed for a $30-40 million opening.
That film’s steepest competition will be “Detective Pikachu” which opens the week before and is said to be on track for a $90 million opening when it does.
