Tween princess Hilary Duff and rising young thesp Kevin Zegers (“Dawn of the Dead,” “Transamerica”) will star in indie feature “The Story of Bonnie and Clyde” for Cypress Moon Studios reports the trades.
Rather than a direct remake of the classic 1967 film starring Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty, this new film will be a new take on the life of the infamous Depression-era bank robbing lovers and outlaws.
Tonya S. Holly (“When I Find the Ocean”) penned and will direct the film which aims to look at the times in the couple’s lives not seen onscreen before.
Natalie Canerday and Rance Howard also star. “Bonnie” is scheduled to shoot in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.
