Drew Barrymore has closed a deal to direct the end-of-the-world drama “The End” at Warner Bros. Pictures says The Hollywood Reporter.
Rather than a look at the large scale, this film focuses on just several people and has an uplifting and humanistic tone as this group reconcile their fate on Earth’s last day.
Characters include a steadfast veteran British radio personality, a Midwest teen couple, and a father in Tokyo trying to reach his family across the city. Aron Eli Coleite (“Heroes,” “The River”) penned the script.
Barrymore remains attached to direct and produce the young-adult thriller “Heist Society” at Warners and “How to Be Single” at New Line.
