The creators of the proposed “Judge Dredd: Mega-City One” TV series confirmed to Heat Vision at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend that writer Rob Williams has finished the script for the show’s pilot.
Williams, who has been writing stories for anthology magazine 2000AD for years, is leading the creative team for the show which is expected to begin casting soon ahead of a 2019 premiere on SyFy.
The story will be set in the future metropolis which occupies the better part of the eastern coast of the United States. Rebellion and IM Global are producing the series with the creators having reportedly already planned out two years of the story.
Though the focus will be partly on Dredd, the series is being seen an ensemble piece that will also include several different enforcers.
Executive producer Jason Kingsley says in a statement: “I’ve read the pilot script by Rob and the team, and got that same thrill I did when I first discovered Judge Dredd. I’m very pleased with how the whole project is coming together and looking forward to more exciting announcements in the coming months.”
