Dreamworks Turns “Alma” Short Into Feature

Animator Rodrigo Blaas is in negotiations to direct a feature-length adaptation of his award-winning short “Alma” at DreamWorks Animation reports Heat Vision.

The short centers on a young girl who gets lured into an enchanted toy store, only to learn too late that the shop is nefariously intent on adding her to its permanent collection.

Guillermo del Toro, who will co-direct DWA’s “Trollhunters” with Blaas, will executive produce the feature. Blaas, who will write and direct the feature, has worked on numerous Pixar films including “Finding Nemo” and “Up”.
