DreamWorks Develops Moning’s “Fever” Series

DreamWorks Pictures has acquired feature film rights to Karen Marie Moning’s bestselling young adult fantasy novel series “Fever” says Variety.

The five book series follows MacKayla Lane, a young woman from Georgia who travels to Ireland to track down her sister’s killer. She soon discovers an extraordinary world filled with ancient secrets, vampires and an elusive book that can help her save both worlds.

The project was previously set up at 20th Century Fox and New Regency, while DreamWorks is planning a live-action fantasy franchise based on the property ala “Twilight” and “The Hunger Games”.

The first book, “Darkfever”, was published in 2006, the last “Shadowfever” was published earlier this year.
