DreamWorks Animation and Universal Studios have cancelled the long-gestating sequel to their 2013 hit “The Croods” with production being stopped immediately.
Around thirty employees have been working on the film for over three years and now will be looking for new jobs. DreamWorks Animation says they hope to keep them at the company with some likely to be shifted to other film projects.
The first “The Croods” made $587 million worldwide at the box office, on a production budget of $135 million. Back in August the companies announced that an expected 2017 release would be pushed back into 2018, signaling the first sign of trouble.
