“Downton Abbey” creator Julian Fellowes is reportedly developing “Five Arrows,” a TV series about the Rothschild dynasty, for Sky Atlantic.
In one generation the family rose from the ghetto to become the richest and most powerful family in history, amassing the largest private fortune in the world during the 19th century.
The family gained pre-eminence in the bullion trade during the Napoleonic Wars between 1803 and 1815. War financing, antisemitism, fraternal power struggles, forbidden love, generational conflict and brilliant but disenfranchised women all come into play in the saga.
Fellowes is collaborating on the script with Ian Kelly (“Mr Foote’s Other Leg”) with Jemima Khan set to produce for Instinct Productions and 42.
